On 24th January, the 3rd day, Bangalore Fashion Week witnessed Kalyanasougandhikam, the collection from Soucika. Soucika is a well-known brand for bridal and occasion attire and Kamal Raj Manickath, the designer does not disappoint with his collection this year.
Kalyanasougandhikam is the Sping/Summer collection from Soucika. The outfits are inspired by flowers in alignment with the lovely spring season. Manickath gives an alluring look to the bridal wears by uniting the contemporary and traditional and as a result putting together a marvelous show.
The collection boasts of a delicate usage of laces integrated with laser cut fabrics, sequins, shimmer and brocades in lovely silhouettes that compliments the body. The elegant and natural hues of watermelon pink, blossom, orchid tint, leaf green, soft lemon, coral pink, pearl white, champagne and the likes dominate the elaborate hand work of aari, zardozi, appliqué and hand painting on flowy fabrics like chiffons and georgettes
What I liked about the Show: The show was grand with the beautiful ramp set up for the gorgeous bridals to walk on. Soucika designer showcased a wonderful variety ranging from white gowns to traditional Lehangas and Sarees which are perfect for wedding and cocktail parties. The most unique feature of the show was the usage of unique hues and shades ordinarily not present in run of the mill weddings.
Interaction with Designer :
TEC: How was it working in BFW?
Kamal Raj: This is my second time here and there was a great response from the audience.
TEC: What was the inspiration behind this show?
Kamal Raj: Wedding collection, I tried to make brides look little different. Lots of Indian motives, and few western wears. I have used color pallete which is not very much used in Indian wedding wears. Hope it works out well.
TEC: What are the fabrics used?
Kamal Raj: I have used lots of Silk, chiffon and lots of fancy embroidery.
Interaction with ShowStopper:
Parvathy Nair: So I did couple of pageants, miss sandalwood and one in kerala. Ramp walk is never been my cup of tea, as I’m not extremely tall but I have done lots of ads and acting came for me through this. I still love modelling, hence I came here as soon as Kamal Raj called me.
TEC: Any words on today’s outfit?
Parvathy Nair: It’s the heaviest outfit I have ever worn, as it is from bridal collection. It looks great and on lighter note it is as heavy as me.
TEC: What is your fashion statement?
Parvathy Nair: I like to wear things which makes me look good, I do wear what is trendy but that has to make me feel comfortable and confidant.
TEC: What is your favorite colour of the season?
Parvathy Nair: I’m experimenting with a lot of Aqua blue as of now.
TEC: What are you next projects in Sandalwood?
Parvathy Nair: I’m doing a film called, Vascodagama which will release next month.
