Can you imagine a Deepika Padukone or a Jennifer Aniston with yellow teeth? Yes, I am sure you all went “eww” in your heads! White teeth not only look pretty, they are also a sign of healthy dental hygiene. Now because we don’t want to go to the dentists as we are always broke with all the endless clothes shopping we thrive on, I have come up with some easy on pocket DIY ideas. As usual, before putting up this article, I have personally used these methods and had astounding results. Also, this piece comes out as a demand from our lovely TEC readers.
Before we move on, lets go through the reasons that turn our teeth yellow. The culprits that tops the list are:
- Beverages
- Sodas
- Wine
- Poor dental hygiene
- Lack of flossing
Here are four methods which will help you keep your teeth white and healthy.
1. ORANGE PEEL & SALT
Orange peel has a numerous amount of goodness in them which is a saviour of skin, hair and teeth too. Its rectitude for skin is known but for teeth is not widely acknowledged.
The paste of orange peel is excellent at bleaching our teeth and make them look like pearls.
Blend orange peel in a high speed processor to make a paste by adding pinch of salt and apply it to the teeth with the toothbrush. This removes bad breath and also will reduce the stains on the teeth.
If this method seems burdensome and laborious you can just wash the peel, pinch it on to salt and rub it on to the teeth and massage for 2-3 minutes.
Sesame oil pulling comes from Ayurveda where rinsing the mouth with oil is recommended for keeping teeth and gums healthy.
How exactly is the oil pulling done? Well it’s simple. First thing in the morning, before consuming anything take a small measuring cup and measure about 15ml of sesame oil. Pour the oil into your mouth, like you would do with a mouth wash, and begin moving it around, drawing it repeatedly between your teeth and making a chewing action with your teeth and jaws. Do this for about 5-10 minutes then spit it out and brush your teeth with herbal tooth paste.
Following this will make your teeth shiny with add on benefits such as it will heal bleeding gums, improves digestion.
Mash strawberries and soda in a bowl. Slowly brush your teeth with the mashed berries and rinse with lukewarm water. Preferably, do this in the night. This will naturally bleach the teeth making them look like the pearly whites as nature had intended at the first place.
As everything takes its time to show results, this has to be done at least three times a week to see reputable results.
4. LEMON & BAKING SODA
This method is widely known. Lemon is one beauty fruit which is prodigious. We all know it gives a natural bleach to our skin it goes same with the teeth too .
Squeeze a lemon to one teaspoon of baking soda and it froths up. Leave it until it settles down, Scoop it with your toothbrush and brush your teeth for around 3-4 mins then rinse it off.
Brush and floss twice a day.
Try any of these methods and do let us know the results and like TEC always recommends, keep patience with the techniques!
