Ornaments are a woman’s best friends. So when we got an invite for the Jaipur Jewels expo, we were pretty excited to be there and cover it for our lovely readers!
What TEC loved at the Expo: There were wide varieties of Jewellery to be worn for all kinds of occasions. They had some trendy ear rings which young girls would love to wear and flaunt in colors like aqua blue, green and pinks. The color of gold in this piece is antique and doesn’t resemble the bright gold we usually get. It is perfect for people who do not like a lot of bling.
These neck pieces have an old school style to them and the gold is beautifully carved to clasp around the neck. It gives a royal look and who doesn’t want to look like a queen, right?
I loved this particular ear ring. It looks simple but the design is so neat. One uncut diamond in middle and carvings with blue emerald and gold.
These are the classic traditional designs which are so lovely and evergreen that they never ever went out of style — I am sure the elders in your family would own such a piece and so would you. Jhumkas are loved by most of the women and hence these designs have passed on from generation to generation. These look very elegant on a saree or even a heavy designer suit.
There were few temple jewellery as well. Temple jewels are pretty challenging to make as the designs are difficult and it has to look authentic. You will often notice South Indian women wearing temple jewellery on auspicious occasions such as marriages or festivals. The intricacy of the designs make them precious and ideal for such occasions. You can team them up with traditional Indian sarees.
There were some lovely bracelets collections as well. Here are the ones we loved the most. This is a light weight bracelet with stones embedded which looked elegant and stylish as well.
This is a round bracelet which can be twisted to give it a completely different look. I had never seen something like this before. It was so cool!
The Diamond jewellery collection was something to look forward to. The uncut diamonds designed to fit on the necklace and the ear rings were marvellous. They are apt to be worn in weddings.
What I wore for the event: I don’t really wear ethnic unless there is an occasion for it, since this event was more of authentic jewels and it was on a festival day. I wore this Full length salwar. To accessorize it, I wore a black and white studded big ear ring and a long chain with big pendant made of black metal. I carried a golden clutch which added on to the ethnic look.
