Maybelline Color Show Lipsticks Review and Swatches

It’s been quite a few days since I spoke about my most favorite make up thing in the world — Lipsticks. Isn’t it wonderful how a dash of bright color can give you a phenomenal uplift. By now, maybe you know that Maybelline has been one of my favorite brands. Earlier, Maybelline color show nail polishes have already impressed us by being affordable with a wide range of colors to boast of. So when Maybelline launched its Color Show range lipsticks in 32 different moisture rich shades, I was obviously pretty excited to try them on. I started with one shade and before I knew it, I had my hands full with three of the lovely shades. I have used them enough to give a fair and reasonable review. So without further ado, let’s move on.

Three shades which I bought are:

• 407 Mauve Power
• 312 Hot Chocolate
• Red Velvet

Packaging: The maybelline color show lipsticks come in a black tube with a colored ring at the center which indicates the color family of its shade. The cap shuts securely with a click that locks it. The product code and shade name are written on a shade colored sticker on the bottom of the tube. I liked the package for its price.

My Take on the Product: The texture of the lipstick is creamy, smooth and soft. It has high pigmentation which makes your lips completely opaque in one swipe. With two to three swipes, you will get a deep shade of the color on lips. It also does not look like over the top. Due to its buttery texture, it keeps the lips hydrated and hence you won’t feel the need of a lip balm. However, it is not a good idea to wear it on chapped lips. Make sure you exfoliate the lips before hand.

The lipstick lasts for a decent 3 to 4 hours. However, if you eat a meal, you will need an application of another coat. Also the color transfers easily onto objects. A very common trick to avoid this is to cover your lips with a thin tissue paper and apply some powder over it. The lipstick gives a creamy matte finish on the lips and also glides easily while application. After the color fades there is a slight pigmentation of darker shades which lasts for an hour.

Honestly, there are not much of cons. But I hate the fact that color gets transferred onto all the objects. Barring this tiny thing, it is a great product at such a price. I will definitely look forward to own a few more shades in this range.
