Biotique Bio Kelp Protein Shampoo For Falling Hair – Review

Biotique as a brand is still new to me.  The first product I used from this brand was an under eye cream. But my consistency of applying any eye cream is so bad that I cannot comment on how that product worked for me.  A shampoo, on the other hand, is a product I use pretty regularly, for obvious reasons of course! It has been more than a month now since I have been using Biotique Bio Kelp Protein Shampoo.

Now my usual shampoo is Dove and I don’t have a lot of reasons to complain about it. Like our skin, our hair is exposed to the million environment changes. We take them into an air conditioned environment and to harsh sun or winds. In my case, I also wear the helmet quite a lot. All these are contributing factors to hair fall.  And thus, I keep trying ways to keep my hair strong and avoid hair fall. One such endeavour was this Miracle drink which I spoke of a few months back. Biotique Protein Shampoo is another.

Ingredients:

Kelp, Natural Proteins, Peppermint Oil, Mint Leaf Extract, Neem, Tesu, Daruhaldi, Bhringraj, Ritha, Sajjikshar, Himalayan Water

Biotique Bio Kelp ProteinShampoo comes in a transparent bottle. It is easy to understand the level of the product with such packaging which is a good thing. The label behind the packaging has all the information of its ingredients. It comes with a flip cap which makes it easy to pour the contents and also control the quantity.

My Experience with the Product:

The Shampoo is rich blue in color, and its consistency is neither too thick nor too thin. It smells nice during the application, but the fragrance doesn’t last after the wash. It lathers very well cleaning the scalp thoroughly; it also has a soothing effect on the scalp as it contains mint leaf extract. Since it’s a herbal product, I didn’t see any change in hair fall during the first week, but gradually I could feel that the hair fall had reduced. Having some patience will help you in a situation like this. Also, as a pleasant surprise, it also triggered my hair growth more than usual.

Though it prevents hair fall and triggers hair growth, it makes hair a bit rough. It adds volume to hair and also makes hair bit frizzy. I usually do not use conditioner on my hair as my hair is very soft but after using this Shampoo, I either needed conditioner or hair serum to keep the softness in my hair intact. Here is a handy tip though: If your hair is totally untameable, I suggest you lightly move over a hair straightener over it. This at least handles those tiny flailing hair.

Pros:

  • Herbal, no harmful chemicals
  • Prevents hair fall gradually
  • Triggers hair growth

Cons:

  • Makes hair bit rough

TEC Verdict: 4.5/5

If hair fall is your concern and you like herbal products, this is definitely a good pick. But do apply hair masks once in a while to keep the softness and shine in your hair alive.

  1. Nice review Ashwini. Just a tip popped up in my mind that protein in a shampoo is equal to rubbing meat loaf on hair i.e., no gain, but I like the brand Biotique. It is totally herbal brand. Generally reetha is used as a soap base in herbal shampoos. Well, maybe this shampoo is for oily haired people like me. 🙂
