On June 8th, 2016, nearly 2000 people gathered for the biggest launch of LeEco 2 super phones and I was one of the unlucky ones who couldn’t make it to Delhi due to my office work. But I shall share a few details about this event as well as the post-launch event that I attended in Bengaluru. Atul Jain, COO, Smart Electronics Business, LeEco India, unveiled the 2nd generation of Superphones, calling them “redefine product value”. He also added, “We are focusing on the Eco-Model, an integration of software, content, services, applications and hardware.”
At the end of the launch event, the pricing for the phones were announced. For Le 2, the 3GB RAM and 32ROM combination Superphone comes with the price of Rs 11,999, including one-year membership, which is worth Rs 4,900 if purchased alone.
For Le Max2, the 4GB and 32GB model will cost Rs 22,999, and the 6GB+64GB version will be at a price of Rs 29,000 and will include a one-year membership of the content as well.
The post-launch event kick started after all the bloggers and super fans came under one roof at Hard Rock cafe in Bengaluru. The LeEco team then walked all of us through the latest features of the two new phones and what could be expected out of the brand in the near future. After the session, we got our hands on the devices, where I checked the content feature of the phone which is pretty impressive for a tv series junkie like me. LeEco has the largest collection of blockbuster and award winning movies from across the world including top Regional Cinema from India. It also has 150+ live TV channels and 3.5 million songs to spoil users for choice. I also listened to the music from this phone as LeEco has revolutionarily replaced the 3.5mm headphone port with the world’s first CDLA Type-C interface, which is quite significant for the earphone industry that remained same for decades in India.
After the hands-on experience, there were some interesting discussions on the technical scenario in India, like whether India is ready for some super Tech Gadgets or Not. After all of this, a few lucky ones got to win some goodies too. As the next generation phone, Le 2 has 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM and is greatly improved from its predecessor. It is powered by the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon. Le 2 provides a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera while Le Max 2 has 21MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera. Le Max 2 features a 5.7 inch 2K Super Retina Display, the best display for VR equipment.
LeEco will have its first flash sale for Le Max2 on June 28th, and its first Le 2 flash sale in early July
I promise to do a full phone review if I get hold of it soon. Until then don’t forget to check out all other posts from us!
