Ladies, summer time is here and it is the time when the sun becomes downright cruel to your skin. The scorching heat and high level of humidity are going to eat away your natural complexion and glow. If you neglect your skin in the summer season, the harsh rays of the sun can cause clogs in the pores and prevent your skin from breathing. Without a proper skin care regime, your skin can become prone to sunburns, premature aging, fine lines and even skin cancer.
Therefore, it is important to give extra attention and adopt a special summer skincare regime to keep your skin safe, healthy and glowing throughout the season. So here are a few Skin Care tips for summer:
Apply sunscreen and stay safe
For most of us summer means outdoor parties, backyard barbecues, and fun at the beach! However, sunburn can take away all the excitement. Remember, the sun’s fiery rays are extremely powerful and dangerous, so, guard your skin with a sunscreen lotion every day, even on cloudy days. It will protect you from crazy patterns and itchy skin.
Choose a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30; the active ingredients of sunscreen break down in daylight. Therefore you need to keep reapplying the sunscreen every 2 hours in order to maintain the effectiveness, especially if you sweat a lot or go swimming. Don’t overlook the sensitive skin of your lips: apply a lip balm with an SPF of 30 or higher. Make sure that you apply sunscreen at least half hour before going outside, so that the skin can absorb it nicely.
Exfoliate to get a younger looking skin
Constant use of air conditioner, electric fans and swimming can make your skin very dull and dry. Exfoliation helps in removing dead and dull skin and helps in preventing congestion and clogged pores. Soft and fresh skin can absorb toners and moisturizers better. Gently rub your scrubbing cream in circular motion over your entire body and wash it off. Exfoliate at least 2-3 times a week during this season. To make your skin extra soft and smooth, choose a scrub which contains natural sea salt and tropical nut oils.
Use toners
Summer time requires extra attention due to the dust, excess oil and clogged pores. Toners unclog the pores as well as keep the skin cool and baby soft. There is a huge variety of toners available in the market; sunless tanners have become hugely popular in recent times as they give a beautiful golden glow to your skin. Don’t forget to apply the toner on your neck and back of your hands too. Go for a toner with natural ingredients like essential oils and fruit extracts, as they are extremely helpful in clearing the blemishes and marks.
Choose water-based moisturizer
Moisturize your skin after shower and before going to bed. If your skin is getting oily and sticky due to the hot weather, switch to water based, oil-free moisturizers as they keep your skin hydrated. Due to heat and humidity in weather, many people don’t apply moisturizer; but don’t forget that the scorching heat flushes the water content out of your skin which makes it dry, damage-prone and dull. Therefore, it is very important to follow a solid moisturising routine in hot weather too.

As we all know, water is the most essential nutrient for human body and as the temperature starts soaring up, it becomes even more important to increase our fluid intake. The most obvious way of staying hydrated is of course drinking a tall glass of water, however there are several other ways to keep the water balance just right in your body without gulping down a lot of water; for example you can consume water-rich fruits and vegetable salads or smoothies. Apart from keeping you well hydrated, it also works as a wonderful detox diet which clears out harmful toxins from your body and makes your skin healthy and vibrant.
